Innovative surface protection

Following nature (lotus effect)

In Asia, the lotus flower is considered a religious symbol of purity. Moisture rolls off, and no dust adheres to its surface. It's all down to nano-particles: Minute papillae repel water. In nano-technology, this principle has been transformed into a self-cleaning ceramic. Materials coated with nano-particles have special properties: Scratch-proof spectacles are made by applying nano-particles to the surface. The lenses do not scratch even if cleaned with steel wool. The minute particles are so tiny that they cannot refract or diffract light, but instead allow it to pass through unhindered.

How does it work?

The nano-seals are made up of nano-particles with components that become firmly attached to the surface and to other components to create the desired effect. These particles arrange themselves intelligently during the application process: The binding components migrate to the surface, whilst the anti-adhesion components move towards the air. This ""self-organization"" creates an ultra-thin, glass-like layer which forms a homogeneous connection with the surface, thereby ensuring extreme durability. This also protects the surface against aggressive environmental influences. The same form of nano-coating is also used in Rittal enclosure cooling units (condenser surface).

Nanotechnology – Transforming visions into products

Nanaotechnology is used as standard in enclosure climate control devices. The condensers in TopTherm cooling units are nano-coated with ceramic nano-particles to add a dirt-repelling layer. The pores are permanently sealed, thereby preventing foreign substances from adhering to them, so that the surface properties are maintained. This means that servicing intervals can be significantly extended in ""dirty"" environments. Innovative pre-treatment techniques based on nanotechnology offer truly eye-catching benefits.

Nanotechnology in primers

As one of the world's leading enclosure manufacturers, Rittal is now further enhancing its international product range with a primer-coating technology for optimum performance in every last detail: nanotechnology. The innovative pretreatment with nanotechnology offers truly eye-catching benefits:

Superior quality

Significantly improved protection from corrosion, thanks to a sealed, inorganic, high-density layer embedded with nano-particles.
Enlarged surface provides for optimum final-coating adhesion.

More eco-friendly

Free from phosphates, solvents and toxic heavy metals.
Reduced energy consumption, as no heating is required for application.

Longer service life

Devices have more effective long-term protection.
Significantly reduced maintenance.

The nanoceramic surface coating of our products replaces conventional iron phosphating.

As a genuine innovation in surface technology, this pretreatment is perfect for use on steel, zinc and aluminium surfaces. It creates exceptionally even coatings and significantly improved corrosion protection for coated surfaces.
